Job summary

Job Description

The Kitchen/Direct Care provides healthy meals for TGA students and live‑in staff, and maintains a safe, clean kitchen in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Work with other departments to comply with all Texas DFPS regulations or COGNIA.
  • Participate in campus events and chapels as required.
  • Prepare meals for the students.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen at or above all standards set by the state.
  • Order supplies for the kitchen and maintain an adequate inventory.
  • Create healthy menus appropriate for students, including those with dietary issues.
  • Serve the food.
  • Supervise (following staff check‑off list responsibilities), mentor, and interact with residents during various activities, which may include online school, TC curriculum, work periods, free time, and recreational activities.
  • Administer discipline as necessary according to THRIVE policies.
  • Minister to students whenever opportunity arises and/or during scheduled sessions.
  • Become a mentor to students.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director or Program Manager.
  • Report to the Program Coordinator as the Kitchen/DC.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Maintain a state‑approved Food Handler’s License.
  • Responsible to the Program Coordinator.
