Job summary

Children's Lighthouse of New Braunfels is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation and service in a preschool setting. You will help prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children and staff while following the school's menu and nutrition guidelines.

Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen, proper food storage, and adherence to safety regulations. You will also assist with inventory, labeling, and documenting kitchen records, with a focus on food allergies

• Prepare and cook meals according to the school's menu and nutritional guidelines.
• Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children and staff as needed.
• Follow proper food preparation, portioning, and serving procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Properly store, label, and date food and ingredients.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain appropriate temperature logs.
• Check inventory and notify management when food or supplies need to be reordered.
• Receive and properly store food deliveries.
• Minimize food waste and use ingredients efficiently.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, counters, dishes, and food preparation areas.
• Operate kitchen appliances and equipment safely.
• Accommodate approved food allergies and dietary restrictions according to school policies.
• Communicate with management regarding menu needs, food concerns, or kitchen maintenance issues.
• Assist with maintaining required kitchen records and documentation.
• Follow all Children's Lighthouse policies and Texas childcare food-service requirements.
