Job summary

VOA Northern California & Northern Nevada is recruiting a Full-Time Kitchen Assistant for the Central Kitchen in downtown Sacramento. You will assist with food preparation, washing, cleaning, and daily kitchen duties to support the meal program for seniors, veterans, families, and shelter residents.

Responsibilities include inventory, safety compliance, helping cooks with meal ingredients, and setting up food service lines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting in a kitchen environment is required.
• Understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety procedures.
• Food Handler’s License is required or preferred.
• Strong ability to take and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in a safe and sanitary manner using proper food handling techniques.
• Assist with inventory control and unloading of delivered food supplies.
• Help set up and serve the food line and assist cooks with meal prep.
• Organize and store food supplies; wash dishes and sanitize areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls and storage areas.
