REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Dining Services

HOURS: 4:00pm - 8:00pm, Part time position. Will work a combination of weekdays and weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing a variety of duties in the Dietary Department to ensure the area is kept clean and all services are accomplished in a customer-friendly environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure adequate supply of clean utensils, dishes, and pots and pans for use.
  2. Scrap trays, soak dishes, utensils, and assemble dish machine.
  3. Operate an industrial dishwasher.
  4. Set up and wash pots and pans.
  5. Remove trash from kitchen.
  6. Ensure proper safety and sanitation guidelines are used.
  7. Perform opening and closing side work.
  8. Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately.
  9. Provide quality food to residents, visitors, employees, and guests in a timely manner.
  10. Make tea and coffee, and clean coffee machines in health care.
  11. Work on tray line, setting up the trays with utensils, napkins, condiments, read and call out the diet cards, some bending over for tray and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  12. Put plates, desserts, and drinks on tray then put on cart, some bending is required as well.
  13. Clean area and put away milk and juice.
  14. Empty and clean tea urns and coffee pots.
  15. Pick up trays and trash from floor.
  16. Assist with sweeping and mopping the floor.
  17. Must be able to lift trash cans.
  18. Report all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident reactions to the appropriate licensed personnel in a timely manner.
  19. Respond and react in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
  20. Protect any confidential information concerning residents, family, and/or the organization.
  21. Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to all safety procedures and facility fire, disaster, and bomb threat procedures.
  22. Adhere to all organizational, departmental, and nursing procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.
  23. Attend organizational or departmental conferences and/or in-services as scheduled.
  24. Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to the appropriate party.
  25. May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements.

Specific Requirements:

  1. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant it.
  2. Able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
  3. Able to manage time, multiple tasks, and projects.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  2. One or more years of experience in food service preferred.
  3. One or more years of hydro-technician experience preferred.
