REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Dining Services
HOURS: 4:00pm - 8:00pm, Part time position. Will work a combination of weekdays and weekends.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing a variety of duties in the Dietary Department to ensure the area is kept clean and all services are accomplished in a customer-friendly environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure adequate supply of clean utensils, dishes, and pots and pans for use.
- Scrap trays, soak dishes, utensils, and assemble dish machine.
- Operate an industrial dishwasher.
- Set up and wash pots and pans.
- Remove trash from kitchen.
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation guidelines are used.
- Perform opening and closing side work.
- Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately.
- Provide quality food to residents, visitors, employees, and guests in a timely manner.
- Make tea and coffee, cleaning coffee machines in health care.
- Work on tray line, setting up trays with utensils, napkins, condiments, read and call out the diet cards, some bending over for tray and lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Put plates, desserts, and drinks on tray then put on cart; some bending is required.
- Clean area and put away milk and juice.
- Empty and clean tea urns and coffee pots.
- Pick up trays and trash from floor.
- Assist with sweeping and mopping the floor.
- Must be able to lift trash cans.
- Report all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident reactions to the appropriate licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Respond and react in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
- Protect any confidential information concerning residents, family, and/or the organization.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to all safety procedures and facility Fire, Disaster, and Bomb Threat procedures.
- Adhere to all organizational, departmental, and nursing procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.
- Attend organizational or departmental conferences and/or in-services as scheduled.
- Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to the appropriate party.
- May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements.
Specific Requirements:
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant it.
- Able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
- Able to manage time, multiple tasks, and projects.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- One or more years of experience in food service preferred.
- One or more years of hydro-technician experience preferred.
