Kitchen Assistant
Responsible for assisting in the daily preparation of the school lunch program and developing positive community relations among students, staff, and community members.
Assist in meal preparation, service, and sales, ensuring compliance with department regulations. Tasks include washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruits, vegetables, and meats following recipes and portion guidelines. Assist in setting up and cleaning workstations, following HACCP standards, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely.
Serve meals daily, monitor food temperatures, and record as per HACCP standards. Follow menu and recipe instructions accurately. Assist with unloading and storing food deliveries. Learn and operate the Point of Sale system and reconcile daily transactions.
Build positive relationships with community members, emphasizing customer service. Communicate effectively in written and verbal forms, maintaining confidentiality of student information. Participate in training, including USDA mandated standards, and pursue ongoing regulatory updates. Perform other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Team player, effective communicator, positive attitude, organized, adaptable, and bilingual skills are a plus.
Location: Iron Horse Elementary. Full-time, 30 hours/week, 172 workdays/year. Salary: $17.39 - $26.89/hour, with benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and paid time off.
