About the Role
This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career draftsperson who enjoys technical problem-solving and producing high-quality drawings.
This is a primarily internal, drafting-focused role with purposeful exposure to the field. You will spend much of your day creating and refining drawings in Chief Architect, while also visiting job sites as needed to better understand construction conditions, installation details, and how drawings are executed in the real world. This role is well-suited to someone who is self-driven, detail-oriented, and motivated to continually build their technical and graphic communication skills.
- Monday–Friday, generally 8:00am–5:00pm
- Showroom is closed on Saturdays and Sundays
- Occasional flexibility to stay a bit late when deadlines require
- Professional, in-person studio environment with periodic jobsite visits
What You’ll Do
- Produce and revise kitchen and bath drawings using Chief Architect
- Prepare drawings for coordination with installers, vendors, and builders
- Communicate as needed with installers to clarify drawings or field conditions
- Visit job sites periodically to observe installations, verify conditions, and gain insight into construction processes
- Organize and maintain digital drawing files and project documentation
- Learn and use Buildertrend for project coordination and documentation
- Support designers by updating drawings based on selections and specifications
- Participate in cabinet manufacturer training to understand custom cabinetry systems
- Continuously refine graphic communication skills, including layout clarity, annotation, and presentation
Who You Are
- A recent graduate (or graduating soon) with a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field
- 0–2 years of experience (academic projects, internships, or studio work welcome)
- Comfortable learning and working extensively in Chief Architect
- Experience with other drafting or modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.) helps with ramp-up
- Highly self-driven and able to manage your time independently
- Curious and motivated to understand how designs are built and installed
- Detail-oriented and precise, with a strong sense of accountability
- Comfortable communicating professionally with installers and internal team members
- Interested in building long-term technical and construction expertise
Skills & Tools
- Exposure to Chief Architect (professional or academic) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with other design or drafting software is a plus
- Strong understanding of scale, dimensions, and construction logic
- Willingness to learn Buildertrend
- Developing or strong graphic communication skills, or a clear interest in improving them
