Job summary

State of Washington's DCYF seeks a Kinship Care Licensing Supervisor (SSS5) to lead a team of Social Service Specialists in Tacoma. You will coach staff, approve licensing actions, and drive kinship home studies from intake through relicensing, ensuring compliance with laws and policies while upholding kin-first, culturally responsive practice.

You will report to the Tacoma office at least weekly and guide staff toward safe, family-centered outcomes.

Qualifications

• Eight years of paid social service experience.
• Master’s or higher with required credit hours in social services.
• Bachelor’s degree with required credit hours and four years of paid experience.
• One year as SSS4 and two years as SSS3 preferred.
• Ability to learn and meet others’ needs; strong judgment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coach five SSS3 staff and prioritize work assignments.
• Oversee kinship home studies, licensing, relicensing, updates and complaints.
• Provide formal and informal training on licensing and home studies.
• Develop onboarding plans and support onboarding by a SSS4.
• Conduct case reviews, staff meetings, and unit coordination.
• Advise on licensing processes, policy and procedures.
• Assist in recruitment and retention of kinship homes.
• Collaborate with community and providers to ensure safety and connections.
