Job description

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lower Elementary Teacher to join our team at Sherwood Elementary School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Kindergarten students and providing them with a well-rounded education that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth that meets the unique and individual needs of all students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and state standards.
  2. Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and student participation.
  3. Possess knowledge and understanding of elementary school classroom management and organization, current best practices in language arts, math, science, and social studies.
  4. Administer and use a variety of performance assessment tools.
  5. Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  6. Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  7. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate school-wide events and activities.
  8. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and behavior.
  10. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and any concerns.
  11. Regular in-person attendance required.

Requirements:

  1. Valid Michigan Elementary teaching certificate or willingness to obtain certification.
  2. Strong knowledge of subject matter and teaching techniques.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  6. Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success.

Preferred:

Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in an elementary school setting.

Compensation and Benefits:
Based on STEA CBA for the 2024-2025 School year, compensation starts at $45,138 for a Bachelor's Degree with no previous experience; $52,825 for a Master's Degree with no previous experience. Standard school employee benefits apply.
