Job summary

Westfield Public Schools is seeking a qualified Kindergarten Teacher for Highland Elementary School in Westfield, MA. The position requires MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Early Childhood (PreK-2 or PreK-3) and a Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience with students with disabilities is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site role with a salary range of $50,000 to $98,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Current and valid MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Early Childhood (PreK-2 or PreK-3).
• Bachelor degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
• Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach pupils in an integrated setting utilizing course of study adopted by the Westfield Public Schools and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulations.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis as a liaison between the home and school whenever necessary.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Supervise pupils in out of classroom activities during the assigned work day.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
• Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
• Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
