Job Responsibilities
Faith Integration:
- Incorporate Catholic teachings, prayers, and traditions into daily classroom life.
- Serve as a Christian role model in speech, behavior, and attitude.
- Collaborate with the parish and school community on liturgical and faith-based events (e.g., weekly Mass, prayer services).
Curriculum & Instruction
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in religion, reading readiness, writing, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
- Create hands-on, play-based, and inquiry-based learning experiences appropriate for kindergarten learners.
- Differentiate instruction to meet students' diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Use assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction.
Classroom Management
- Create a safe, loving, and respectful classroom rooted in Christian values.
- Establish clear routines and behavior expectations that promote self-regulation and cooperation.
- Encourage kindness, sharing, and community-building among students.
Communication & Parent Involvement
- Maintain regular, positive communication with families through newsletters, conferences, and informal updates.
- Encourage parent involvement in class activities, faith formation, and school community events.
Professional Expectations
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular planning, school-wide initiatives, and student support.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and diocesan training.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, assessments, and report cards.
Job Requirements
- State teaching certification (required or must be obtained).
- Practicing Catholic (preferred or required, especially if teaching religion).
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Completion of Safe Environment training and background check (required).
- CPR/First Aid certification (may be required or preferred).
