Job summary

Windham Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Kindergarten Paraprofessional to support classroom instruction at Natchaug Elementary School (High-Needs School).

The role involves assisting students with physical and educational needs, collaborating with teachers on IEP goals, and maintaining confidential records and communications with families. Prior experience with young children and strong organizational skills are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children.
• Ability to implement behavioral goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually and in small groups.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students' needs and IEP goals.
• Provide escort and mobility assistance to student(s) when necessary.
• Maintain student records, including progress reports and attendance.
• Record student learning data as directed.
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of lesson plan materials.
• Communicate positively with parents on the progress of students.
• Act as an expert classroom support to substitute in the absence of the teacher.
• Assist students with classwork.
• Assist with recess, supervision, restroom breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, etc.
