Manhattan Day School on the Upper West Side seeks a skilled Special Educator for our Kindergarten team. The role focuses on behavioral management, executive functioning, and emotional regulation within a push-in/push-out model, working closely with classroom teachers and families.

Qualifications

• NYS certification in Special Education (required).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred).
• Experience supporting early childhood or elementary-aged students.
• Strong background in behavioral management and executive functioning support.
• Calm, structured, and proactive approach to student support.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based model.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group academic support within and outside the classroom.
• Design and implement targeted interventions aligned with student learning goals.
• Support students in developing executive functioning skills such as task initiation, organization, flexibility, and self-monitoring.
• Create and implement proactive behavior plans rooted in skill-building strategies.
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, specialists, administrators, and families.
• Monitor student progress and maintain clear documentation.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
