Job summary

Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1 is seeking a long-term substitute Kindergarten teacher for Chloe Clark Elementary.

The position is temporary with a start date of September 23, 2026 and requires successful completion of a teacher certification program and a Washington state certification or eligibility. Substitute teachers will be placed on the salary schedule after twenty consecutive work days, following the district's 2026-27 scales.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university.
Possess or qualify for issuance of a valid Washington state certification and endorsement(s) to teach Elementary Education.
Knowledge of strength-focused strategies including trauma-informed and SEL practices.
Experience planning, preparing and delivering differentiated instruction.
Demonstrated skill supporting students with disabilities.
Understanding of how injustice or racial inequity may impact students and families.
Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Ability to maintain regular in-person presence at the assigned work location.
Ability to meet punctuality and attendance expectations.
