Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated Long Term Substitute Teacher for our Kindergarten classroom at Locust Grove Primary. The candidate will create a nurturing, engaging learning environment and support the established curriculum while attending to each student’s development.

Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, fostering inclusive participation, assessing progress, and communicating with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Early childhood teaching certification preferred.
• Experience with young children in educational settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to varying classroom situations.
• CPR and First Aid certification a plus.
• Availability to commit to the full long-term assignment.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
• Assess and document student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student performance and classroom activities.
• Manage classroom behavior in a constructive manner, promoting respect and cooperation among students.
• Collaborate with other educators and staff to support student learning and development.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
• Participate in professional development opportunities as required.
• Perform other duties related to the role as assigned by the school administration.
