Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a substitute teacher to support students from preschool through 8th grade. You will fill in for absent teachers, deliver planned lessons, and collaborate with staff to ensure engaging and inclusive classroom experiences.

The role emphasizes communication, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a joyful, student-centered learning environment across multiple grade levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong communication with students, families and staff.
• Experience or interest in early-to-middle grade education.
• Familiarity with restorative practices and inclusive environments.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for absent preschool–8th grade teachers as needed.
• Deliver planned lessons and supervise classrooms.
• Work with the front desk when not assigned to a classroom.
• Communicate with classroom teachers about student observations.
• Supervise and support inclusive and fair play.
• Monitor students during lunch and recess.
