Job summary

School of Rock Rockville is seeking a Childcare Music Instructor to teach Little Wing (ages 4-5) and Rookies (ages 6-7) at our Rockville location. You will create a warm, supportive environment and help young musicians reach developmental milestones through fun musical activities and rock instruments.

The role covers music instruction across keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums, with a focus on fundamentals, lesson planning, and regular communication with parents.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of teaching or performing music
• Passion for and experience with children under seven
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design
• Strong customer relations and communication with parents
• Organizational and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Maximize quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
• Ensure students learn fundamentals of music, not just songs
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
• Communicate progress with parents regularly
• Interact with parents and students and be accessible in the school
• Assist in recruiting and enrolling students
• Support in rehearsals and basic maintenance of the school

Skills

4+ years experience teaching music

Experience with children under 7

Excellent customer relations

Strong organizational skills

Proficient in at least one instrument

Education

Classroom/early childhood education experience preferred
