Job summary

Rural Utah Child Development in Vernal, UT is seeking a Cook to manage daily meal service with focus on sanitation, inventory, and accurate documentation. You will prepare nutritious, developmentally appropriate meals and support budget tracking while maintaining compliance with program standards.

This role emphasizes reliable execution and collaboration with staff to nourish children's healthy development.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a current Food Handler’s Permit
• Must pass the Food Safety Manager Certification within 12 months of hire
• Clear and professional communication skills to ensure tasks are completed on time and accurately
• Previous experience in the food and/or nutrition industry, highly preferred
• Head Start/Early Head Start parents will receive preference for employment vacancies for which they are qualified

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent access to nutritionally balanced and developmentally appropriate meals
• Uphold high standards of food safety and sanitation
• Support food inventory, purchasing, and budget tracking for efficiency and compliance
• Maintain accurate documentation to support program compliance
• Collaborate with staff to reinforce nutrition in the child experience
• Actively recruits parent and community volunteers to help in the kitchen
