Job summary

Rural Utah Child Development (RUCD) in Vernal, UT, is seeking a Cook to manage daily meal service with a focus on nutrition, safety, and efficiency.

You will prepare balanced meals, maintain sanitation, assist with inventory and budget tracking, and collaborate with staff to support children's development.

Minimum age 18, HS diploma, Food Handlers Permit, and Food Safety Manager Certification within 12 months are required; Head Start preferences apply.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a current Food Handlers Permit.
• Must pass the Food Safety Manager Certification within 12 months of hire.
• Clear and professional communication skills to ensure tasks get completed on time and accurately.
• Previous experience in the food and/or nutrition industry, highly preferred.
• Head Start/Early Head Start parents will receive preference for employment vacancies for which they are qualified.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent access to nutritionally balanced and developmentally appropriate meals.
• Uphold high standards of food safety and sanitation.
• Support food inventory, purchasing, and budget tracking for efficiency and compliance.
• Maintain accurate documentation to support program compliance.
• Collaborate with staff to reinforce nutrition in the child experience.
• Actively recruits parent and community volunteers to help in the kitchen.
