Job summary

The Charleston County Public Library is seeking a Library Specialist to support branch operations, lead children’s programs, displays, and STEAM activities for ages birth through grade 5.

You will assist patrons, manage desk duties, train new staff, and represent the library at outreach events while ensuring excellent customer service. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required to support community literacy and engagement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
• Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and implementing children’s activities including STEAM programs.
• Create children’s displays, crafts and puppet shows.
• Assist patrons with library resources and technology.
• Serve as in-charge staff in the absence of the Branch Manager.
• Maintain a neat children’s department and assist with outreach events.
