Job summary

Cranford Public Library is hiring a part-time Library Assistant for the Children’s Department in Cranford. Duties include greeting patrons, checking materials in/out, helping with library apps, registrations, and supporting children’s programs.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of library/customer service experience preferred, and a schedule including 1–5 pm on weekdays plus evening and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Public library experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Availability for afternoons, evenings, weekends and some coverage shifts.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons at the Children’s Desk.
• Check materials in and out.
• Assist patrons with library app use and searches.
• Collect fines and fees.
• Register patrons and assist with online registration.
• Arrange and shelve materials in call-number order.
• Assist with events for children and families.
