Kids in Action - Assistant Teacher

After School K-5 Program

2026-2027 School Year

Job Summary Kids In Action seeks a nurturing and creative person who is able to assist the students in a variety of activities and who can work in a team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children. Monitor behavior and assist children to follow the rules.
  • When required, work as a 1:1 with children needing support.
  • Assist in planning developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Help children to engage in activities and promote positive interactions with others.
  • Implement daily activities set forth by the teachers.
  • Participate in all activities and maintain enthusiasm as an example for the children.
  • Keep KIA space and assigned housekeeping areas clean, neat and organized.
  • Participate equally in the daily set-up and breakdown of the physical shared space.
  • Assist in the preparation and clean‑up of daily snacks and materials.
  • Participate in ten hours of Professional Development, related to Early Childhood Development and Curriculum.
  • Complete ten hours of EEC StrongStart Professional Development.
  • Complete First Aid and CPR training annually.
  • Attend Staff Meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as an assistant teacher or similar role.
  • Compassionate and positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Cooperative and flexible.
  • Physically able to set up and take down folding tables.
  • Physically able to lift items up to 20lbs.
  • Clear all HPS and EEC Background checks.
