Job description

At The Hills our mission is to lead anyone and everyone into a life‑changing relationship with Jesus.

This position is perfect for someone who is looking for a way to make an impact in the lives of kids and their families. The Hills Kids Director leads a team of 30 volunteers, consisting of 7–10 per week, who create unforgettable experiences for kids every week at The Hills Community Church. The Hills Kids ministry has fluctuated from 15–30 kids. We’ve built a strong system that you will lead, full of leaders and amazing volunteers who teach, lead, and disciple our kids together.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the setup, execution, and teardown of Hills Kids for our portable church environment every Sunday at Double Peak School in San Marcos.
• Create a Wednesday night experience for kids to learn scripture and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
• Empower kids and their families to serve in the schools, in the community, and on mission trips, including trips to Tijuana, Brooklyn, meal service at local schools, beach and park days, and work days at local non‑profits.
• Lead Hills Kids Camp every summer. Over 140 people are involved (kids and adults). Work with the entire church to create the most amazing experience for kids.
• Recruit and train volunteer leaders to connect with, teach, and disciple kids.

Schedule

• Sunday Morning: 7:00am – 12:30pm
• Monday Staff Meeting: 1:00pm – 2:30pm
• Wednesday Night: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
• Weekly One‑on‑One with Pastor: 1hour
• Flex Work: Preparing lessons, meeting with volunteers, supporting kids at their activities

Compensation and Benefits

This part‑time position is 20hours per week and will pay $21–$25 per hour. There will not be medical or retirement benefits at this time, but for the right person we will offer vacation.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a kid magnet—someone who is always connecting with kids and engaging them—and must have strong recruiting skills. Experience in leading youth or children’s ministry and the ability to train other leaders is also desired.

The Hills staff and leadership will be fully available to help, train, and empower the Hills Kids Director in every way. We will help raise the funds to accomplish your ministry goals, meet with you regularly, build up the team of volunteers, and help you dream and vision in order to take our kids ministry to the next level.
