Job summary

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a Kid Zone Program Specialist to supervise and engage children aged 2 months to 10 years and assist families in a safe, fun environment. The schedule runs Monday through Saturday from 8:00am to 2:00pm, with part-time hours (up to 25 hours per week).

The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and active participation in character development (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility).

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Six months to one year childcare or customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
• Ability and desire to work with children of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Supervises play and group activities of Kid Zone participants.
• Maintains discipline and order.
• Maintains supervision of participants.
• Handles parent/member concerns.
• Registers each Kid Zone participant.
• Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion.
• Insures equipment is clean and safe.
• Enforces safety standards for the operation of the Kid Zone.
• Implements Character Development: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.
