Job summary

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association is seeking a Kid Zone Program Specialist to supervise activities for children from 2 months to 10 years and support families in a safe, engaging environment.

The role requires evening/weekend availability and daytime shifts for weekdays, with a focus on maintaining safety, cleanliness, and positive behavior. Compensation is hourly, with part-time scheduling and benefits through the YMCA.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Six months to one year childcare or customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
• Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
• Ability and desire to work with children of all ages.

Description

The Kid Zone Program Specialist is responsible for the children in the Kid Zone to ensure a safe, fun area for children 2 months through 10 years old and their families to interact and enjoy.

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Evening/Weekend Availability: Monday–Thursday from 4:00 PM–8:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM–2:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM–4:00 PM.
• Weekday Availability: Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Supervises play and group activities of Kid Zone participants
• Maintains discipline and order
• Maintains supervision of participants
• Handles parent/member concerns
• Registers each Kid Zone participant
• Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion
• Insures equipment is clean and safe
• Enforces safety standards for the operation of the Kid Zone
• Implements Character Development: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility

Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association

COMPENSATION

$14.35 - $17.93 ; part time; non exempt (up to 25hrs/week)

Requirements

KNOW HOW

CERTIFICATIONS

• Blood Borne Pathogen training
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required within the first 60 days
• First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
• AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days
• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
