Accountabilities
As Key Account Manager, you will oversee strategic customer relationships, execute sales initiatives, and identify opportunities to increase market share and profitability. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and customer teams to align business objectives with effective commercial solutions.
  • Support the Key Account Director in developing and implementing strategic customer initiatives that achieve financial targets and customer goals.
  • Build relationships with prospective clients and strengthen existing key accounts to increase revenue, profitability, and customer loyalty.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend product or service enhancements that improve satisfaction and unlock new sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with customer stakeholders to improve the realization of genetic performance potential across swine production operations.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans, leveraging internal resources to drive growth and profitability.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor annual budgets, adjusting sales activities to meet forecasts and business objectives.
  • Negotiate, maintain, and renew customer contracts while securing mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Communicate the value proposition effectively to customers, prospects, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify and convert prospects into new business, manage the sales pipeline, and implement lead-generation plans.
  • Lead projects and cross-functional initiatives that support business expansion and market-share growth.
  • Communicate new product and service offerings, including relevant pricing information.
  • Research industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments to inform commercial decisions.
  • Analyze sales data and business intelligence to identify trends, assess performance, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and present reports on key account performance and customer relationships to relevant stakeholders.
  • Travel domestically approximately 50% of the time.
Requirements
The ideal candidate combines extensive swine industry sales experience with strategic account management, financial planning, and commercial leadership capabilities. You should be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, interpreting complex business data, and collaborating across technical, operational, and commercial functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in swine sales.
  • Strong understanding of swine production metrics and their commercial and financial implications.
  • Experience in financial management, including developing, managing, and delivering annual budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic customer relationships and engage stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience leading cross-functional account teams and coordinating technical, operational, and commercial resources.
  • Proven expertise in strategic account planning, business development, opportunity identification, pipeline management, and customer-specific sales strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • At least three years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI, and customer engagement tools.
  • Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, including the ability to articulate value propositions and lead high-impact customer engagements.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into practical business solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically approximately 50% of the time.
