Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Santa Clara, California is seeking an experienced Kernel & Hypervisor Engineer to help build the EC2 Nitro Hypervisor and related virtualization components for AWS.

You will own the software development life cycle from design through testing and deployment, collaborating across global teams to drive innovation and reliability. The role emphasizes contributions to the Nitro hypervisor, performance, security, and scalable architecture, with opportunities to

Qualifications

Experience working with Linux.
Experience in professional software development or embedded development in C/C++.
Experience in computer architecture, or leading architecture and design of new and current systems.
Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system.

Responsibilities

Take end to end ownership of the software development life cycle: build new solutions across the virtualization software stack; develop virtualization components and automate infrastructure flows.
Drive operational excellence, improving the quality of the hypervisor and our instance platforms.
Influence and contribute to the technological roadmap of your team.
Work with other EC2 teams like hardware, software and firmware groups across the globe, driving innovative solutions.
Openness to leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and technical problem-solving.
