Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Santa Clara is seeking a software developer to build the EC2 Nitro platform, foundational to cloud computing, with focus on high-performance virtualization and scalable systems.

You will work on C/C++ or Rust in Linux, contribute to ground-up virtualization, and collaborate across hardware, firmware, and software layers to deliver a next-generation compute environment. The role emphasizes depth in CS fundamentals and scalable design.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 3+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 3+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• The ideal candidate is expected to have solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, and expertise in C/C++ or Rust development in a Linux environment. Experience with Linux package management, version control systems, automated build processes, and software unit testing are required. In-depth knowledge of ML frameworks and cluster management is highly preferred.
