We are looking for experienced Kernel Developers to join the KernelCare Team. This role is ideal for engineers with strong C programming skills, deep knowledge of Linux and Linux kernel development, and an interest in cybersecurity.

As a Kernel Developer, you will work on developing and maintaining Linux kernel patches, with a strong focus on addressing security vulnerabilities and ensuring the stability and reliability of customer systems. You will tackle complex, low-level engineering challenges and contribute directly to solutions that help organizations keep their Linux infrastructure secure without unnecessary downtime.

As a Kernel Developer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring Linux kernels are updated in a timely manner with security fixes and patches addressing known CVEs
  • Maintaining and supporting existing kernel functionality while contributing to the development and implementation of new features
  • Contributing to automation efforts when needed by developing Python and Bash scripts, for example, to support CVE patch testing. The primary responsibility for automation remains with a dedicated team

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Strong proficiency in C programming and exceptional debugging skills
  • Experience with Linux kernel core subsystems
  • Extensive experience with GDB and other debuggers
  • Basic understanding of kernel ABI
  • Proficiency in Git for development, patch management, and branch management
  • Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong planning, time management, decision-making, presentation, and organizational abilities
  • Experience automating routing tasks with AI tools
  • Experience with Python and shell scripting
  • Ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced environment
  • English Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher for clear team communication

Nice to have:

  • Expertise in CPU performance and power analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of CPU and cache architectures
  • Basic understanding of x86-64 Assembly (AT&T asm)
  • Prior exposure to Jenkins

What’s in it for you?

  • A focus on professional development
  • Interesting and challenging projects
  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours, which allows you to schedule your day and work from any location worldwide
  • Paid 24 days of vacation per year, 10 days of national holidays, and unlimited sick leaves
  • Compensation for private medical insurance
