Job description

Port St. John Veterinary Hospital is searching for a veterinary professional to join our team as Kennel Assistant.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who may not have prior veterinary experience but are excited about the industry. This position has full-time/part-time flexibility and requires rotating weekends. Candidates must be reliable, friendly, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

This position is open to full-time or part-time scheduling. Scheduling needs are: half-day Tuesdays, Wednesday and Friday all day, 2-3 weekends (Sat/Sun) per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Animal handling, feeding, and cleaning (dogs and cats)
  • Medication administration
  • Observation of behaviors, and knowing when to alert a veterinarian about a change in one of the patients
  • Client communication and education
  • General hospital cleaning, restocking, sterilization, etc.
  • Assisting with phone lines and front desk duties as needed

Compensation and Full-time benefits:

  • Compensation: $13.00 - $14.50/hour
  • Full-time or part-time flexibility: This position is open to full-time or part-time scheduling. Scheduling needs are: half-day Tuesdays, Wednesday and Friday all day, 2-3 weekends (Sat/Sun) per month.
