Job summary

The Animal Haven Inc is seeking a full-time Kennel Assistant to care for cats and dogs, clean the shelter, and assist with veterinary visits. The role requires experience in shelters or animal handling and weekend availability. The position is in-person with a 40-hour work week and benefits including paid time off.

The successful candidate will maintain cleanliness across all areas, ensure safe handling, and support the Medical Coordinator and Shelter Manager with daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Previous shelter, kennel or animal handling experience required.

Responsibilities

• Feed and care for cats and dogs.
• Clean shelter and animal areas per protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, sanitation and laundry rooms.
• Medicate sick animals as directed by Medical Coordinator or Shelter Manager.
• Walk dogs and provide enrichment.
• Practice safe animal handling.
• Bring animals to and from the vet as needed.
• Follow the posted schedule and record time accurately.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Job Description

The Animal Haven, a no-kill shelter for homeless and abandoned cat and dogs, is looking for a full-time Kennel Assistant (40 hours a week) whose responsibilties are:

• Feeding and caring for the cats and dogs at the shelter
• Cleaning the shelter and all of the animal areas in accordance with the shelter's cleaning protocols
• Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of all areas of the shelter, including the kitchen, sanitation and laundry rooms
• Medicating any sick animals as directed by the Medical Coordinator and/or Shelter Manager
• Walking the dogs and providing them with enrichment
• Practicing safe animal handling (with respect to the dogs and cats)
• Bringing animals to and from the vet, as needed
• Following the work schedule as posted and maintaining accurate time records
• Performing other duties as directed by the Shelter Manager, Medical Coordinator and/or Adoption Coordinator

Must love animals and must be able to work Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Previous shelter, kennel or animal handling experience required.
