Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a Kennel Assistant in Vacaville, CA to support hospitalized pets and the veterinary team in a fast-paced environment.

You will provide daily care, monitor wellbeing, keep kennels clean, assist with restraint and basic animal care, and help with equipment and supplies. No prior experience required; training provided.

Qualifications

  • Genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or with a team.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • No prior animal caregiving required; training provided.

As a Kennel Assistant, you'll play an important role in providing exceptional care to our patients while helping keep our hospital clean, organized, and running smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care for hospitalized pets.
  • Monitor pets for changes in behavior or overall well-being and report concerns to the veterinary team.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized hospital environment.
  • Launder bedding and keep treatment and kennel areas stocked and tidy.
  • Assist veterinary assistants and technicians with patient restraint and basic animal care as needed.
  • Safely handle dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Ensure all patients receive compassionate, attentive care throughout their stay.
Qualifications
  • A genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to their well-being.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and cleaning.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Previous experience working with animals is preferred but not required, we're happy to train the right candidate!
