Position: Primary Prevention Coordinator

Responsible to: Director of Advocacy

Primary Responsibilities: The Primary Prevention Coordinator leads Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence's (KCSDV) efforts to advance primary prevention strategies that reduce sexual violence across Kansas. Working within a public health framework, this position coordinates statewide and community-level efforts to implement the Kansas Strategic Plan to Prevent Sexual and Domestic Violence, with a focus on the community and social conditions that promote safety and reduce the risk of violence. The Primary Prevention Coordinator serves as a convener, facilitator, and relationship-builder, bringing together diverse partners across sectors for systems change and sexual violence prevention-focused initiatives.

Specific Duties:

  • In collaboration with the Kansas Department for Health and Environment, lead implementation of CDC-funded prevention initiatives and activities outlined in the RPE Workplan and the Kansas State Plan to Reduce Sexual and Domestic Violence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with diverse partners, including sexual and domestic violence programs, public health agencies, businesses, healthcare organizations, community-based organizations, tribal communities, policymakers, and other impacted groups/communities.
  • Provide training, technical assistance, coaching, and resources to community partners with a focus on sexual assault service providers and KCSDV to strengthen prevention program capacity.
  • Support partners in identifying and implementing evidence-informed strategies that address community and societal conditions that contribute to sexual violence.
  • Represent KCSDV in statewide meetings, workgroups, conferences, and training opportunities related to violence prevention and public health.
  • Support work with the contracted evaluation partner for outcome evaluation of the project, including data collection, continuous quality improvement, and assessment of community and systems-level outcomes.
  • Track project activities, partner engagement, implementation milestones, and outcomes; prepare reports and documentation required by funders and to support the impact of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, including timely reporting and documentation of activities and expenditures.
  • Stay informed about emerging research, evidence-based practices, and national trends in primary prevention, sexual violence prevention, community organizing, public health, and health equity.
  • Assist with other KCSDV duties as assigned.

Employment Status: Fulltime (36 hours/wk.), nonexempt (hourly)

Salary Range: $55,000. We know that the practice of salary negotiation can contribute to pay inequities, this starting salary is non-negotiable. Our compensation structure—as well as our approach to future compensation adjustments—is transparent to all employees.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed: Knowledge of effective, research-supported approaches to preventing violence, including how prevention works at the individual, community, and societal levels. Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate prevention programs and initiatives using a public health approach. Strong project management skills, including the ability to independently plan and organize work, manage timelines and deliverables, coordinate partners, and track progress. Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse partners and build collaborative relationships. Commitment to advancing social justice, equity, and the rights of survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

Location: This position offers a collegial working environment in our offices in downtown Topeka, KS. with a hybrid in-person/remote work schedule. Remote work is set for most staff as Mondays and Fridays, with weekly office hours as 8:30am-5:00pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30am-12:30pm (Fridays).
