Job summary

Dorleco in Washington state seeks a calibration engineer to actively participate in software calibration, verification, release, and implementation. You will integrate, calibrate, and optimize vehicle performance through in-vehicle testing of vehicle control system software.

You will develop and execute test plans, translate customer requirements into calibration data, and collaborate with Control, Software, and Validation teams to resolve defects and ensure on-time releases.

Qualifications

  • BS in appropriate technical field.
  • CDL or ability and desire to obtain CDL.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and powertrain management systems and performance.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols: J1939, UDS, XCP, Ethernet, CAN-bus, LIN-bus.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in the calibration, verification, release, and implementation of software.

  • Collaborates with Control, Software, and Validation Teams on testing, root cause analysis, and defect resolution.
  • Contributes to on-time software releases and maintains calibration quality standards.
  • Stays current on software functionality and product requirements for assigned functions.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve calibration and testing methods.

Summary of Job

  • Uses engineering principles and experience to integrate, calibrate, and optimize vehicle performance functionality via in-vehicle testing of vehicle control system software
  • Develops and executes test plans for requirements verification and reports any discovered defects
  • Provides technical feedback on proposed product changes
  • Provides support to the running business group in the calibration, verification, and release of running change software releases
  • Provides relevant input to the development, communication, and management of vehicle calibration plans, including timing, quality, and budget
  • Translates customer requirements into software calibration data and configurations for the organization
  • Collaborates with and provides support to the Control, Software, and Validation Teams with testing, root cause analysis, and defect resolution
  • Contributes to on-time software releases and maintains calibration quality standards
  • Stays current on software functionality and product requirements for their assigned functions
  • Identifies opportunities or provides input for new initiatives to improve calibration and testing methods for higher efficiency and effectiveness
  • Maintains a positive working relationships with other groups and PACCAR divisions
Required Qualifications
  • BS in appropriate technical field
  • Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability and desire to obtain
  • Knowledge of vehicle and powertrain management systems and performance
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols: J1939, UDS, XCP, Ethernet, CAN-bus, LIN-bus
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required
  • Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and a willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs & enter/exit truck cabins repeatedly
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with vehicle development, integration, or testing
  • MS/MEng in technical field
  • Experience with vehicle data acquisition systems and test equipment (e.g. ATI Vision, Vector CANape).
  • Knowledge of diesel and electric powertrains on Class 5-8 vehicle applications
  • Proficiency in using a programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, C++, or MATLAB) for developing testing and data analysis scripts
  • Experience using software emulation tools to conduct testing
  • Familiary with Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and/or SOTIF (ISO 21448)
  • ISTQB Foundation Level knowledge or certification
