Job summary

Gloucester Township Public Schools is seeking an As Needed Substitute Teacher for K-8. The role requires a valid New Jersey teaching or substitute certificate and at least 60 college credits. You will report to the Principal, follow the day’s plans, and supervise students between schedules, with daily reporting to the regular teacher and Principal.

Position is funded per diem at $165/day, effective September 1, 2026 or upon paperwork completion. Applications close December 22, 2026.

Qualifications

• NJ teaching certificate or substitute teaching certificate (minimum 60 college credits)
• Familiarity with district philosophy, programs and policies
• Ability to work with children and communicate effectively
• Other qualifications of academic, professional and personal excellence as specified by Gloucester Township Board of Education

Responsibilities

• Reports to the Principal at least thirty (30) minutes before school opening
• Review with the Principal and/or designee all plans and schedules for the day
• Follows teacher's schedule and lesson plans
• Supervise pupil behavior in class and during other periods
• Organize classroom activities effectively
• Cooperate with building staff
• Submit a daily report to the regular classroom teacher and Principal
• Remain in the building until official school closing for teachers
• Confirm next day services with building Principal
• Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
