Job summary

Vertex Education is seeking a Substitute staff member to assist in a K-8 environment, supporting operational functions and classroom activities. You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and staff to ensure smooth daily operations and student engagement.

You will help with driveline supervision, grading support, bulletin boards, and supervision during drills and field trips, while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to positively interact with all students and create a safe learning environment.
• Strong communication with students, staff, administration and parents.
• Ability to identify individual student needs.
• Ability to collaborate with school staff.
• Professional appearance and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Must pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support operational functions in a K-8 setting with campus staff.
• Assist with driveline pickup/drop-off, lunch, and recess duty; light cleaning.
• Prep materials in copy room for teachers.
• Provide breaks coverage by answering phones and checking in students.
• Support teachers in grading and classroom setup.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students during drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch, and field trips.
• Float to areas of need to support staff breaks.
