Job summary

KIPP Memphis is seeking a K-8 Math Director to lead math instruction across the network, setting a vision for rigorous curricula and building the instructional capacity of teachers and leaders. You will ensure data, curriculum, and intervention systems work together to accelerate student learning.

Work with school leaders, instructional coaches, and the academics team to close achievement gaps, monitor progress, and guide professional learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience with a strong record in mathematics.
• Experience coaching or leading adults (teachers, coaches, instructional leaders).
• Experience teaching in the secondary space or leading/coaching in secondary setting preferred.
• Deep knowledge of K–8 math content and standards-aligned practices.
• Experience using student data to drive instructional decisions.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Coach teachers and instructional leaders on rigorous math practices.
• Model lessons, co-plan, and provide real-time feedback to build capacity.
• Develop coaching skills of school-based instructional leaders.
• Support high-quality curriculum implementation across K–8 campuses.
• Unpack units, anticipate misconceptions, and plan for grade-level instruction.
• Lead data-driven instructional planning cycles and data days.
• Monitor assessment results and intervention effectiveness across campuses.
• Partner with MTSS/RTI staff to ensure coherent intervention systems.
• Design professional learning aligned to state standards and goals.
• Stay current on Tennessee state math standards and best practices.
