ACCEL Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide at Akron Preparatory School in Akron, Ohio to support teachers, promote positive student behaviors, and ensure safety and a constructive classroom climate.

The role involves assisting with lessons, activities, and school events, plus administrative tasks and student supervision in a PK-8 setting that values collaboration and student success.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, two years of college coursework, or the passage of the Paraprofessional’s Exam.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Successful completion of BCI/FBI check.
• Ability to meet educational standards as applicable.
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Understanding and ability to manage confidential information.
• High quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift 25-40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Supports lessons taught by the teacher to individual students or groups as assigned.
• Helps plan classroom activities and supports the teacher in student and parent relations.
• Assists with school activities (parent nights, meetings, assemblies, etc.).
• Performs clerical duties (grading papers, making copies).
• Assists the Teacher with classroom technology.
• Maintains cleanliness of classroom, lunchroom and school areas.
• Adheres to the school's philosophy and mission in all activities.
• Performs other duties including field trips, morning/dismissal, lunch duty.
• Works cooperatively with the Teacher and administrators to uphold a positive climate.
