Job summary

Maritime Academy Charter School is seeking a Building Substitute Teacher for K–8, covering all subjects. The role reports to the Principal and is a full-time, salaried 10-month position with exempt status.

The substitute will implement lesson plans, engage students, and collaborate with staff to support student achievement. The role requires strong classroom management, effective communication, and the ability to adapt lessons for students, including those with IEPs.

Qualifications

• PA teaching certification preferred.
• Classroom teaching experience required or preferred.
• Ability to engage students and maintain discipline.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to urban education and high standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in K–8 across all subjects.
• Implement lesson plans and adapt to absent teacher’s guidance.
• Maintain safe, positive classroom environment.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and transitions.
• Collaborate with Special Education staff on accommodations.
• Attend IEP meetings and professional development as needed.
