Job summary

RSU 16 in Poland, Maine is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (K–6) with a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and behavior focus to join our team in a small, structured learning environment.

The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction, develop IEPs, use trauma-informed practices, and collaborate with BCBA, general education teachers, related service providers, administrators and families to support student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred.
• Experience in special education setting preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction and evidence-based interventions for students with social, emotional and behavioral needs.
• Lead IEP development, implementation, and data collection to inform instructional decisions.
• Create and maintain a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Apply trauma-informed instructional practices and SEL strategies to support students.
• Coach educational technicians to ensure consistent instructional and behavioral supports.
• Collaborate with BCBA, general education teachers, related service providers, administrators and families to support student achievement across settings.
