Job summary

ServingSchools in Maine seeks a qualified Special Education Teacher for kindergarten through grade 12. You will provide quality services, plan and implement student programs, and collaborate with general education staff to support individual education plans.

Requirements include state teaching certificate, Bachelor’s degree; preference for LBS1 endorsement; at least one year teaching experience; CPR/health certifications as applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations
• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Provides quality services to special education students, K-12.
• Participates in planning and implementing student programs including special instruction.
• Offers tutorial assistance and consults with general education staff to integrate supports.
