Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Adhere to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards
• Assist school administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
• Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of assigned students
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods
• Create a classroom environment that provides for student engagement in the learning process
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons
• Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request
• Diagnose the learning challenges of students and maintain records for IEPs and 504 plans
• Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of all students including those with disabilities and limited English proficient
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities and provide diverse learning materials
• Encourage students to explore learning opportunities and persevere
• Use techniques promoting critical, creative, and evaluative thinking
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments
• Assign and grade classwork and homework
• Act as test administrator for NC testing programs
• Observe and assess students' performance and behavior
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress and resolve challenges
• Prepare and implement enrichment and remediation programs
• Attend PLC and staff meetings for data analysis and planning
• Participate in professional development
• Perform safety functions/drills to maintain a safe instructional environment
• Perform related work as assigned
