Job summary

Alamance-Burlington Schools is seeking a part-time K-5 Tutor for Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary in Elon, North Carolina. The tutor will provide targeted academic support, working with students on designated subjects on an as-needed basis.

Starting at $15.00 per hour, this non-exempt position reports to the principal and involves Monday–Friday hours with as-needed assignments within the school year.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually.
• Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
• Help students develop self-confidence, raise self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work.
• Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
• Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned student(s).
• Serve as a role model for students being served.
