Job summary

RSU5 is seeking a compassionate Long-Term Substitute School Social Worker to support K-5 students across Morse Street School and Mast Landing School in Durham and Freeport. The role provides individual and group SEL support, collaborates with staff, and assists with behavioral and mental health needs and IEPs.

The assignment runs from Oct 6, 2026 to about Dec 22, 2026, with daily pay starting at $150 and increasing after 10 consecutive days in the same assignment.

Qualifications

• Provide individual and small group social emotional support.
• Collaborate with teachers, special educators, administrators, school psychologists, and related service providers.
• Assist with behavioral and mental health needs and student self-regulation skills.
• Participate in IEP meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group social emotional support.
• Collaborate with teachers, special educators, administrators, school psychologists, and related service providers.
• Participate in student support and problem-solving meetings.
• Support students with behavioral, social emotional, and school-related challenges.
• Consult with staff and families and connect students with resources.
• Support the implementation of IEPs and other student support plans as appropriate.
• Maintain documentation and confidentiality.
• Travel between two elementary school buildings as part of the regular schedule.
