Job summary

Qualifications

• Hold Alabama professional educator certificate in ECE, elementary or special ed.
• Minimum five years as an early childhood, elementary, or special ed teacher.
• Expertise in mathematics instruction and dyscalculia interventions.
• Master's degree or approved professional development as recommended.
• Within 2 years of hire, obtain K-5 mathematics coach endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Support instruction with emphasis on Tier 1 to keep students from falling behind.
• Collaborate with principal and faculty to plan coaching and math instruction strategy.
• Lead schoolwide math professional learning and coaching, modeling lessons and data-informed practice.
• Mentor and coach teachers continuously to improve practice.
• Help teachers use data to differentiate math instruction and identify dyscalculia traits.
• Monitor K-5 student progress via benchmark formative assessments at least three times yearly.
• Focus on math coaching for elementary grades and avoid non-coaching duties.
• Collaborate with teams to use appropriate instructional materials and concrete math models.
• Develop rigorous tasks and assessments aligned with standards; provide real-time feedback.
• Assist teachers with using formative assessments and identifying misconceptions.
