Job summary

Brighton Central School District is seeking part-time teaching assistants to support general classroom activities, 1:1 assignments, and special education classes for grades K–5. Positions run 10 months per year following the student calendar, with eligibility for NYS Teachers’ Retirement and holiday pay.

Responsibilities include assisting in classrooms, supervising students, assisting with copying and clerical tasks, and supporting physical education activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to apply for NYS Teaching Assistant certification.
• Position is part-time, 10 months per year, aligned with the student calendar.

Responsibilities

• Lift, carry, pull up to 60 lbs.
• Be outdoors for up to an hour year-round in potentially inclement weather.
• Be on your feet and supervising consistently for up to an hour.
• Be able to run and keep up with a child.
• With training, operate a copier and complete classroom cutting and clerical tasks.
• Speak and communicate clearly with children.
• Be able to sit and get up from the floor or low seated position.
• Be part of a P.E. class and be able to support sport activities.
