Job summary

Alpha is expanding campuses nationwide and seeks a Literacy Specialist to close reading gaps for K-3 students. The role focuses on targeted, diagnostic intervention, with on-site work and relocation support.

You will deliver brief literacy sessions alongside app-based learning, monitoring progress and data weekly. Ideal candidates have structured-literacy training or a master's in reading or literacy, plus 3+ years with young children and 2+ years teaching reading in K-3.

Qualifications

• Willing to work on-site at a campus listed above, with relocation support.
• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9 in relevant settings.
• At least 2 years teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training or a master's in reading or literacy.
• Bachelor's degree in any subject; teaching certificate not required.
• Comfortable spending about 90% of the day guiding students through app-based learning, and 10% on reading sessions.
• Willing to work with all K-3 students, not only struggling readers.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Guide two to four students through brief structured-literacy sessions to close reading gaps.
• Lead morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities.
• Support students to reach weekly app goals through gamification and school currency.
• Stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing, adapting plans to individual needs.
• Identify reading gaps using running records and fluency probes and deliver targeted sequences.
