Job summary

Jacksonville School District seeks an Elementary School Special Education Teacher to maximize learning for students with special needs by implementing district-approved curricula and maintaining accurate records of progress and outcomes.

The teacher will collaborate with IEP teams, coordinate with families and staff, and stay current with developments in special education to support student growth and success.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in education required.
• Experience with IEPs and special education practices preferred.
• Knowledge of district-approved curricula and assessment methods.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments and diagnostic testing to identify learning issues.
• Develops and implements Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
• Supports students and staff in implementing IEPs and behavior plans.
• Coordinates with outside agencies and authorities as needed.
• Maintains accurate records of student progress and outcomes.
• Engages with parents and provides counseling to support student growth.
• Participates in professional development and stays informed on educational best practices.
• Assists in orientation and training of new teachers.
