Job summary

The Broad Institute is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Office of STEM Engagement Initiatives (OSEI) to organize and implement K-12 programming such as Educational Tours, Bio-Coding Club, and Bio-Coding Club Educator Program. You will collaborate with the Associate Director to develop curricula and training, while handling scheduling, travel and logistics.

Qualifications

• BS in biology, computer science, science education, or related discipline with 2+ years of experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Experience working with middle/high school students through informal STEM programming (in or out of school).
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver curricula in STEM areas.
• Ability to facilitate interactions with students, educators, and administrative partners inside and outside the Broad.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Sound judgment to handle a variety of tasks and solve problems.
• Initiative and ability to work creatively and independently as well as in a team.
• Excellent communication skills including public speaking, writing, teaching, and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities related to in-school STEM awareness programming, including Broad Scientists in the Classroom and Bio-Coding Club chapters.
• Provide professional development and support for educators to start Bio-Coding Clubs.
• Attend annual Science Educators Conference; recruit Educators to expand Bio-Coding Club and train designees.
• Oversee NetPals and KeyPals collaboration with Cambridge School Volunteers; recruit on-site volunteers and coordinate visits with CSV and Cambridge Public Schools.
• Develop new curriculum for Bio-Coding Club with Broad scientific groups.
• Assist in coordinating Broad Summer Scholars Program with rising high school seniors during the 6-week program.
• Recruit, coordinate, and train Broad community volunteers.
• Create and maintain calendars for programs requiring regular Broad staff/partner communication.
• Oversee administrative tasks such as scheduling, catering, data entry, and event planning.
• Maintain relationships with educators and STEM practitioners at other organizations.
• Assist with coordination and planning of all OSEI events and programs.
• Assist with scheduling and facilitating educational tours for local school groups.
• Other duties as assigned.
