Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking an HR professional to support recruiting, hiring and retention of qualified staff. The role coordinates with district stakeholders and the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in HR-related functions.

Essential duties include managing the substitute teacher system, onboarding, payroll, reporting and training of principals and staff, plus collaboration with colleges for student teaching placements and district pipeline programs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of School Committee policy related to HR functions.
• Knowledge of progressive discipline and grievance procedures.
• Knowledge of legal requirements related to HR functions.
• Knowledge of district benefits and ability to convey them clearly.
• Ability to partner with colleges to supply qualified staff.

Responsibilities

• Manages the substitute teacher system including recruitment, onboarding and payroll.
• Provides training and assistance to principals and staff on substitute assignments.
• Supports initiatives to recruit and retain qualified staff.
• Provides weekly reports to administrators and personnel.
• Maintains documentation and spreadsheets.
• Attends meetings, trainings and workshops; coordinates with colleges for practicum placements.
• Assists with district pipeline programs and job fairs.
• Assists with HR functions and related duties.
